The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Personal Trainer promotes individual and community health and wellbeing through direct engagement on the Wellness Floor by creating opportunities for personal training involvement.
Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, engage members to deepen their relationship to the Y Cause.
Actively use Listen First skills to determine realistic and appropriate goals that improve the health and wellbeing of participants.
Actively identify and offer additional support to members who may require help, such as health seekers, new members, and members with diverse abilities.
Interact with members resulting in enrollment in Y programs (PT, challenges, fun runs, etc.) that help them achieve the two Cause Measurement goals.
Conduct personal training sessions in an inclusive, fun, innovative, and safe manner with the scope of practice that results in participants achieving the two Cause Measurement goals.
Experience in related field.
Must be able to engage others in conversation and make all people feel welcome.
Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Personal Trainer Certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, NSCA, ISASA or NFPT). Prerequisite upon hire.
CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire – 14 day compliance period.
This is a full-time position at 30 hours weekly; 20 - 25 hours a week of classes, personal training, and chronic disease prevention and 5-10 hours a week of member engagement.
