Job Summary:

We are seeking high performing individuals to join our 6 month long Athlete’s Performance Institute (API) Trainee Program. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate who is passionate about expanding their knowledge and gaining valuable experience working in a highly skilled athlete strength and conditioning training environment.

As a Performance Specialist Trainee, you will:

  • Participate in a six (6) month paid program as an Exos sports performance specialist supporting professional and elite athletes, including our NFL combine athletes.

  • Act as a lead to an on-site internship cohort, completing duties such as set up and take down of facility equipment daily, establishing intern weekly schedules, training coordination for intern group to introduce team management skills

  • Participate in the programming and services we offer our sport clientele ranging from youth to adult, collegiate, elite, and professional athletes

  • Practical training on how to develop linear and multi-directional movement skills, applications and program designs

Additional Learning Opportunities

  • Work directly  with the Exos NFL Combine preparation program

  • Continuous learning from top Exos human and sports performance coaches

  • Shadow, participate, and support our Exos coaches with performance programming and services we offer our athlete clientele ranging from youth to adult, collegiate, elite, and professional

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of Exos methodology by engaging in Exos specific education,  lectures, presentations, and practicums utilizing our specific strategies to enhance human performance.   

  • Learn and develop linear and multi-directional movement skills, application and program design

  • Additional exposure to sports specific training methods, performance nutrition, physical therapy and the utilization of sport science for client evaluations

  • Trainees will receive access to all of our internal Exos coaching methodology training opportunities via on-line education modules for additional self-led  education outside of on the job learning. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Sports Science or related degree  

  • 0-2 years of  coaching experience; collegiate athletics, strength and conditioning experience or sports performance coaching is preferred. Internship experience may be considered.  

  • Certified in First Aid/CPR for the duration of the internship term

  • Currently holding, or in the process of obtaining, a CSCS certification

  • Able to dedicate a minimum of 25 - 29 hours/week Monday - Friday

  • Proficient with anatomy, coaching, sports science and/or strength and conditioning training

  • Eligible for work in the United States 

  • Proactive and action oriented

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday. 

  • Frequent walking around and demonstrating and assisting with exercise movements; bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and squatting are movements performed daily
